Missing in Ministry

We all have a moment in life when we are at a point of exhaustion and seeking to be recharged by another person’s perspective of our own life’s situation. We have a need to open up and be candid about some challenges that keep subconsciously gnawing at us. The burden seems too great for us to share with our parents and too trivial to share with friends, so as a last resort we succumb to a one on one with the pastor. In reaching out to the pastor you are able to dump your burdens. You may feel that you have made a mistake in that the pastor listens a little, consoles a lot, and concludes with the proverbial prayer. What was missing? A pastor is often available, but perhaps not always ministering in the present moment. It turns out that you did not want to be consoled or else you would have gone to a parental figure. You did not want to be listened to or else you would have gone to your friends. You did not want a traditional prayer or you would have prayed over yourself. Perhaps your soul is seeking to be fed and you want to be used by God, but nothing seems to align with your desires. Let’s move on to God’s agenda.
